STEPS TO TROUBLESHOOT MACBOOK BLUE OR GREY SCREEN ON STARTUP
If you are about to turn on your macbook but you get a grey or blue screen that never loads OS X. It can be caused for several reasons, it's not that easy to trouble shoot. Here are some steps to figure out whats going on this issue.
1. At first you need to disconnect all peripherals the main cause might be incompatible hardware connected to your macbook. So disconnect all devices except the mouse and keyboard then restart your macbook. Then reconnect these devices one by one and restart. if one of them causes hang on the grey screen again, you have found the issue. If no device causing issue then its time to get check deeper.
2.Next you need to perform a safe boot with minimum number of drivers need to work the macbook and check your harddisk in process. Start up your computer by holding the shift key until the apple logo passes. If your mac starts up with safe boot, restart the computer again and see if it boots up normally.
